| Abstract: | The practice of maintaining multipotential and progenitor cells in a non-differentiated state during culture poses various problems depending on the type, origin and future use of the cells. It is currently possible to culture mammal multipotential cells in systems which maintain their non-differentiated state however, the spontaneous differentiation which is inherent in culturing is an advanced situation which gives rise to difficulties in the methods for obtaining cells. The method of the present invention allows mammal multipotential and progenitor cells to be maintained and cultured in a non-differentiated state using nitric oxide.
